COMMISSIONED WORKSHOPS

Companies and other interested parties can contract JTC to conduct an immersive workshop that uses theatre to explore an issue or challenge. The workshop uses dramatic techniques for team building and problem solving. Approaching a challenge using the creative arts ensures that the participants tap into another part of their brain and lean into their innovation and creativity to address the concern, resulting in deeper and more comprehensive solutions than traditional think tanks.

Schools, educators, and others who work with children attend workshops designed to train the participants on the use of creative arts tools and techniques to expand their teaching skills and interactions with children. People learn in a variety of ways; however, the school environment is geared towards a small selection of learning styles. Integrating the use of creative arts into education allows learners to engage with the curriculum and study materials in a different way, increasing their retention and academic success.

Workshops are adaptable to suit participants’ needs.

POST-SHOW WORKSHOPS

JTC offers post-show interactive theatre workshops where children get to re-tell the story, act out the characters as well as learn some of the songs from the show. Post-show workshops play a crucial role in developing a deeper understanding of the African Folktale and the lesson being communicated. Interactive workshops allow learners to express their experiences of the shows and involves the children in building connections to heritage, culture, and the environment.

The post show workshops are an effective way for children to be introduced to performing arts skills within the context of play. The themes and content of the productions are expanded on and the learning is deepened through the vocal and physical expression of the children. Teachers are also welcomed to participate in or watch the workshop and learn a trick or two that they may use in the class room going forward.
