Jungle Theatre Company Presents: Creative Arts Clubs Festival 2024
Empowering Young Minds Through Arts and Culture

Cape Town, on Saturday, 16 November 2024- After a year-long journey of creative exploration, Jungle Theatre Company is proud to present the Creative Arts Clubs Festival 2024. This vibrant celebration showcases the talents of children from Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres to primary schools, who have participated in weekly creative arts club sessions facilitated by Jungle Theatre Company throughout the school year in various communities including Khayelitsha, Grassy Park, Vrygrond and Muizenberg.

During the year, Jungle Theatre Company has embarked on an extraordinary journey, empowering over 170 children with essential life skills, creativity, and confidence. Through our creative arts club sessions, our dedicated facilitators have nurtured a supportive environment where young minds thrive. By fostering creativity and self-expression, developing teamwork and communication skills, encouraging empathy and cultural understanding, and providing a platform for socialisation and fun, we’ve witnessed remarkable growth in our participants. As they’ve explored their imagination and creativity, they’ve also formed lasting bonds, developed essential soft skills, and discovered the joy of artistic expression. This year-long journey has been a testament to the transformative power of arts education, and we’re proud to have played a part in shaping the next generation of creative thinkers and leaders.

With additional funding, we aim to expand our Creative Arts Clubs, reaching more Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres in previously disadvantaged communities. This strategic growth initiative aligns with Jungle Theatre Company’s mission to inspire young people to understand and care for community, culture and nature by sharing and encouraging participation in original African theatre, presented using context-appropriate mediums and local performing theatre makers.

The Creative Arts Clubs programme for 2025 will commence in the first quarter of the school calendar, organisations that are interested in funding a programme in a specific area can contact us on 072 908 5160 or email admin@jungletheatre.co.za

Note to Editor:
Jungle Theatre Company was established as an NPO in 2004 aiming to inspire and empower disadvantaged children & youth to make positive changes in their lives and build a peaceful and vibrant South Africa. JTC’s professional artistic team draws on South Africa’s diverse cultural heritage and indigenous languages to find connections to the environment and human nature, creating and performing original African children’s theatre shows that bring together music, dance, masks, puppets, clowning and storytelling. These performances raise awareness, inspire learning, and motivate children and youth to participate in workshops and performing arts training resulting in; developing life skills; building self-confidence and creating opportunities. We partner with educational, social, environmental, health and arts organizations to offer our work to diverse communities in South Africa and beyond. We bring this work to underprivileged communities with financial support from government, private trusts, foundations, and individuals.
